Proofread

Led the evaluation effort for Gmail Proofread. Built eval infrastructure, ran human evals & built autoraters. Proofread currently has millions of daily active users.

Contextual Smart Reply

Built the original backend pipeline for Contextual Smart Reply. Built the autorater evaluation infrastructure, later extended for the personalized CSR launch. Sundar demoed it at the I/O '25 keynote and discussed it on Lex Fridman's podcast (referred to as “Personalized Smart Replies” in the keynote). Now launched to billions of consumer users in Gmail.

Infrastructure & Data Analysis

Led backend migrations for regional data locale compliance. Built Gmail usage analysis tooling and an LLM-based framework for privacy-safe investigation of large-scale data, which led to the discovery of Contextual Smart Reply. Also built Tap and Send, an unreleased precursor to CSR.

Chat Android

Google, Sunnyvale, CA · Software Engineer · 2019 – 2022

Integrated LLM-based chat summarization into the Android client. Unified navigation across Gmail and Chat Android apps. Resolved a critical notification handling defect affecting 1B notifications per day. Implemented mark-as-unread feature.
